Good impression with small margins around three sides of the sheet. Some pale foxing throughout. Small tear (5 mm) in the top edge in the margin, professionally restored.

Marcenay was an amateur engraver. Coming from a rich aristocratic family, he dedicated most of his time to arts, collecting it and making. He was an ardent follower of Rembrandt and etched several works after Rembrandt’s works. He also made engravings after other Dutch and Flemish artists.
