One of the best-known Austrian artists of the 20th century, Fuchs co-founded the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. Many artists studied under him and were influenced by his work. The Ernst Fuchs Museum opened to the public in 1988 in Vienna in a striking villa built in 1888 by Otto Wagner, the famous Art-Nouveau architect.
