Henri Rivière: Les Fortifications

  • Here the Sacré-Coeur, seen from the North, is still under construction, as is the bell tower, of which only the scaffolding immediately to the left of the building is seen. Rivière probably executed this drawing from the current Porte de Clignancourt. The railway that can be seen is the line that joins the Gare du Nord.

The preparatory drawing for this work is in the Bibliotèque Nationale in Paris.
