Pierre Gatier: L'Avenue du Bois de Boulogne

  • Gatier made a name for himself with aquatint prints of precise vision of contemporary life, and of elegant life of Paris in the times of the Belle Epoque. His first important collector was a important art collector and famous couturier Jacques Doucet (1853-1929) whom he met in 1908, and who developed a lasting interest in Gatier's work and acquired many of his engravings. Gatier’s prints represent an invaluable testimony of the fashions of the time.
